Greentech Challenge

Short Description

Greentech Challenge by ESU NTUA is an innovative competition of green ideas for students, researchers and Startups. The topics are the natural environment, energy, smart cities, new advanced products and sustainable raw materials. An important part of the programm is that prior to the final competition, a number of bootcamp trainings are being held to prepare the participants finalise their business plan under the supervision of experienced mentors. For the first time, the National technical University of Greece got interested in entrepreneurship and innovation, and Mantis B.I. supported that interest by organizing the whole event. Greentech Challenge though is not just a firstfruit of NTUA’s turn to innovation and entrepreneurship. At the same time, it operates as a basis for students to implement their academic knowledge in order to solve existing challenges.

How we managed the Program

Greentech Challenge isn’t just a program. Within the years, it has evolved to a community of young entrepreneurs and their experienced business or scientific mentors. Because of that, managing Greentech Challenge actually means managing the community behind it. By respecting the needs and capabilities of every member of the community, Mantis B.I. energizes those people under the perfect conditions to connect, work together and innovate. The people behind or in front of the scenes are the organizing committee, the scientific committee, the mentors and the student committee.

What we have achieved and how is it relevant to our mission

Throughout the series of Greentech Challenge, hundreds of participants with technical backgrounds got the chance to work on their innovative ideas with business experts or accelerate their endeavour. That’s the plan. Greentech Challenge’s vision is to link the expertise of polytechnic institutions with the production base and innovation. A great number of young academic innovators actually got the chance to apply their academic studies in solving society’s problems with a new green product or service. Those are the elements which led to a considerable annual growth and made Greentech Challenge a part of the NTUA institution.
